After weeks of discussing, planning, filming and refining, our film Introducing…Ability is finally complete. Creating a dance film was completely new to all the dancers and it was the first time Sophie and I had worked this way with a group together. Sophie said, 'It was a learning curve for all of us and a process we’d all like to repeat.'

The group made every decision in the filming and editing stages of the production. They were responsible for the choice of shots and camera angles. Each week they would watch footage I had filmed and make editing decisions. We also listened to several songs to decide on a sound we wanted to accompany the film. They all enjoyed the process and showed off their creativity. The group learnt to be patient and very understanding of the time it takes to produce a film. Having listened to everyone’s choices and capturing all the footage I began to produce a final edit.

In this week’s session the participants had a preview of the finished film which they absolutely loved. They all showed their appreciation with celebratory cheers and applause. The film embodies their personalities and shows the unity between the individuals on the Ability course.
