Reception with the promoter
Friday evening I attended a dinner last night with our Promoter, Mr Uberoi. The dinner was in honour of the departing Taiwanese Ambassador & his wife and was attended by four further Ambassadors from South Africa, Slovakia, Korea and the EU. It was quite a memorable occasion and I have never been in the company of five Ambassadors at the same time before!!
Last night the Technical Staff continued the fit up in the humid conditions of the Cultural Centre while the dancers were taken to the home of Mr Uberoi for a lavish party.

The dancers arrived last night after a good flight. Some ventured out while some had an early night after their long journey. Today they have a free day to explore the sites and relax by the pool or in the Spa.
The fit up started at the Thailand Cultural Centre this morning and all is going to schedule. The Novosibirsk Symphony Orchestra have further rehearsals with Nigel Gaynor today.

Dance helps transition from primary to secondary school
NBT and Phoenix Dance Theatre are in Middleton this week with their summer school for young people. The course is being held at the Cockburn College of Arts and will introduce primary and secondary school students to ballet and contemporary dance. As well as honing their dance skills the project aims to ease the transition from primary to secondary school: the younger members are being introduced to their new school and the older members will mentor and help them.

Last Thursday Northern Ballet hosted a special event at City Inn, Manchester, to introduce group organisers to the wonderful world of The Nutcracker. Guests were given a greater insight to the production with a talk from the man behind the ballet, NB Artistic Director, David Nixon OBE. They were then treated to the Chinese Dance and the Dance of the Sugar Plum Fairy performed live by NB dancers - a fantastic opportunity to enjoy these dances in an intimate setting.
