Beauty & the Beast

Get closer to Beauty & the Beast with talks and demonstrations about the show and life in a touring ballet company.
Beauty & the Beast will be brought to life through your headset with a live description of the movement, action and drama that takes place on stage. Each audio described performance is preceded by a Touch Tour Insight with company dancers, which is free to visually impaired patrons and introduces elements of the production to aide in your understanding of the show.
Northern Ballet Artistic Director, David Nixon OBE, has been in Australia with West Australian Ballet to stage his Beauty & the Beast. David created the ballet for Christmas 2011 at Leeds Grand Theatre before it toured to eleven cities in the UK from Canterbury to Edinburgh. West Australian Ballet will be performing Beauty & the Beast 13 - 28 May at His Majesty's Theatre, Perth.
In 2011 while we were creating Beauty & the Beast a Sky Arts team joined us on tour and in the studio to document the process. Includes interviews with dancers Martha Leebolt, Ashley Dixon and Artistic Director David Nixon OBE.
Julie Anderson
For 25 years Julie ran a successful bridal shop while also working freelance on ballet, film, theatre and opera. For the past three years she has concentrated solely on her career in costume work with Northern Ballet and Northern School of Contemporary Dance.
