It's 450 years since the birth of William Shakespeare, and his works are far from being dead as a doornail (Henry VI Part II). In fact his words will live on forever and a day (As You Like It). In our repertoire we have three productions based on the plays of Shakespeare - Hamlet, A Midsummer Night's Dream and Romeo & Juliet.
Philip Feeney
Philip Feeney studied composition with Robin Holloway and Hugh Wood at Cambridge University and with Franco Donatoni in Rome. He has written extensively for ballet and dance, and is well known as a pianist, working with many companies, including Northern Ballet, Birmingham Royal Ballet, Rambert Dance Company, Carlos Acosta, Adventures in Motion Pictures and the Martha Graham Company.

David Nixon, Artistic Director and Choreographer of Hamlet gives us an insight into his adaptation of Shakespeare's famous tragedy. Talking about his inspiration and ideas for the setting, as well as information about the music, choreography and characters, he explains how all the elements of the production come together to create each powerful performance.
