I trained at the Northern School of Contemporary Dance and after graduating, undertook further training in improvisation at the School for New Dance Development, Amsterdam, and since with artists such as Kirstie Simson, Eva Karczag, and Gaby Agis. After 2 years in Italy I returned to the UK and worked as a freelance dance artist teaching for organisations including Phoenix Dance Theatre, West Yorkshire Playhouse and Harrogate College.
In 2005 I joined Northern Ballet as a Dance Education Officer where I have delivered a wide range of projects across the community and education sectors. This has included repertory workshops, teacher INSETs, community site specific performance projects and integrated dance projects. In 2013 I was awarded a MSc Dance Science and Education from Edinburgh University and became a certified Skinner Releasing Technique teacher, which I teach alongside my role at Northern Ballet.
In 2016 I was given a new role as Artistic Learning Manager and now manage our Dance Education Officers, overseeing the content and delivery of the Learning department. I also lead the Ability course for adults with learning disabilities and Early Years projects. My favourite part of my job is seeing the positive impact our work can have on participants, enabling their skills and confidence to grow.
