Northern Ballet launch Rise

We are excited to announce our new education project for Key Stage 2, Rise.

Thanks to an Explore and Test fund from the Paul Hamlyn Foundation and support from the The Liz and Terry Bramall Foundation, the pilot project will launch in September across five primary schools in West Yorkshire and will run for two years.

This year the pupils will explore David Nixon OBE’s Cinderella, taking part in weekly dance classes as part of their core curriculum to discover more about the production as well as their own health and wellbeing. Classes will be enhanced by a live pianist.

This will culminate in a trip to the Leeds Grand Theatre to see Northern Ballet’s world-class dancers perform Cinderella live.

School matinees are always the highlight of our year, having offered them in previous projects, therefore we are proud to be able to continue to offer such opportunities to young people through Rise. These matinees provide many individuals with their first live ballet experience and champion our belief that ballet is for everyone.
