Be inspired and moved by the exciting work of professional and community disabled dance groups from Yorkshire and beyond at Expressions.

Taking place at the Stanley & Audrey Burton Theatre, all performances are relaxed for the benefit of audiences and performers alike.

Applications for individuals and community groups to perform in Expressions 2020 are now open. Please let us know about any specific access requirements in your application and we will work with you to meet your needs.

We are happy to support you in completing the application form in a different format including over the phone or by sending a video.

Accessibility

Expressions performances will take place at the Stanley and Audrey Burton Theatre. Find out more about the building’s accessibility.

All performances are relaxed. Relaxed performances are open to anyone and aim to reduce anxiety around theatre visits to help everyone have an enjoyable time. They may benefit people with sensory or communication disorders, or a learning disability.

  • There will be a changing room available for use which features a fixed height bed and hoist. You will need to bring your own sling to use the hoist
  • There are a number of wheelchair spaces available at these performances. These can be booked online or via the box office over the phone or in person
  • There is an Infrared hearing loop in the Stanley & Audrey Burton Theatre auditorium and headsets are available from the box office for the performances. For the hearing loop to work best, you should select seats in the following areas: rows G-J, seat numbers 2-12. If these seats are not available, please contact the box office who can advise you of other seats to book
