First Direct Arena turns Sapphire blue
The First Direct arena in Leeds turned a spectacular Sapphire blue this Sunday 30 November to mark the start of Northern Ballet’s 45th anniversary celebrations. First Direct and Northern Ballet have been working in partnership since 2009 and both companies have head-quarters in Leeds. Northern Ballet was founded in Manchester in 1969 and moved to Leeds in 1996. The award-winning ballet Company will hold anniversary celebrations throughout the remainder of 2014 and in to 2015, the pinnacle of which will be a Sapphire Gala at Leeds Grand Theatre on Saturday 14 March 2015. Northern Ballet will be joined on stage for one night only by some of the world’s most celebrated dance artists and renowned choreographers. A special fundraising dinner will be held after the Sapphire Gala performance in the prestigious Howard Assembly Rooms at Leeds Grand Theatre.
