Northern Ballet appoints new Director of Development
Northern Ballet has appointed Jennifer Young as Director of Development as it continues its focus on generating income from fundraising activities in the run up to the Company’s 50th Anniversary in 2019/20.
Jennifer joins Leeds-based Northern Ballet from the Senior Management Team of Leeds City Council where she was Head of Visitor Economy and Inward Investment. During her time in post Jennifer was responsible for the strategic development of the Leeds visitor economy, raising the profile of Leeds as a global visitor, conferencing and cultural destination and driving inward investment to the city.
Mark Skipper DL, Northern Ballet’s Chief Executive explains: “Northern Ballet are incredibly proud to be a lead player in the Leeds cultural offering, and our roots in the city have never been more important to us than now, as we approach our 50th anniversary. I am therefore delighted to appoint Jennifer, who has a first-class knowledge of the Leeds business landscape. Her work to promote and develop the city has seen her build up an impressive portfolio of regional, national and international relationships which will prove invaluable to Northern Ballet as we continue to look for new partnerships and income streams to support our work.”
Jennifer adds: “Northern Ballet is a world-class cultural organisation with whom I have been fortunate to work with for several years as a partner in raising the profile of Leeds to visitors and investors for the city. They play a significant role in enhancing experiences for people who visit, live, study and work in Leeds and within the many national and international destinations where they tour. This is an excellent opportunity to work with a first-class team as they approach their 50thanniversary; I am looking forward to making a significant contribution to extending their reach and engagement with key partners and individuals."
