Kenneth Tindall appointed to Artistic Staff

Press release date
Thu 31 May 2018

We are delighted to announce that Kenneth Tindall has been appointed to our Artistic Staff as Artistic Director of Digital and Choreographer in Residence. The role will see Kenneth guide Northern Ballet in our ambition to produce more work for digital platforms. He will also help to nurture choreographic talent and will take on new choreographic commissions for the Company.

Kenneth was a Premier Dancer with the Company, performing with us for over 10 years before retiring to focus on his work as a choreographer. He created several short works for Northern Ballet before staging his first full-length work last year, the award-winning Casanova. Kenneth has also worked internationally creating new work for companies and has been recognised with several awards and nominations, most recently being nominated for his choreography for Casanova at the National Dance Awards 2017.

As Artistic Director of Digital, Kenneth will spearhead our new programme to create dance exclusively and especially for digital, pushing the boundaries of how the artform can be captured to give audiences an experience that is distinct from that of live performance. Further details about our ambitious digital plans are to be announced.

As Choreographer in Residence Kenneth will create new work for Northern Ballet for both the live stage and direct to digital work. He will also continue to be involved in our choreographic development projects, such as the pioneering Choreographic Workshops which he co-curated this year with Artistic Director David Nixon OBE.

Kenneth Tindall will create a new work for our Mixed Programme to be performed in Leeds and Doncaster in September. See northernballet.com/mp18 for details.
