Never a dull moment
There's never a dull moment at Northern Ballet! I spent the half term preparing for a busy couple of months ahead which includes the Easter Course at Quarry Hill in April and In Motion – a dance project for young wheelchair users. If you want to know more about the courses and projects at Northern Ballet, keep an eye on the website and you can follow my Easter Course Blog where you’ll find more information about the course including exciting news about what we’ll be doing during the week.
With the START project, I’ve been back to the schools I visited before half term and we’ve been dancing some repertoire from Madame Butterfly which they are all going to see next week. There have been some excellent interpretations of the themes and movements from the ballet and everyone is really excited about their trip to Leeds Grand Theatre, which for some of the children will be their first ever visit to the theatre. This week as part of the project I’m also working with lots of Primary and Secondary School teachers to offer exciting ideas for classroom links to Madame Butterfly.
Towards the end of this week I’ll also be welcoming students from Stonyhurst College, Clitheroe who will have the unique opportunity to observe the company in training and take part in a ballet class and Madame Butterfly workshop before watching the performance on Thursday evening. I’m sure they’ll be looking forward to it as much as I am!
