World Book Day 2012

Published on Thursday 1 March, 2012

Today (March 2012) is World Book Day and we all love a good book here at Northern Ballet towers...

A year ago The Grauniad published an infographic of 117 Books Everyone Should Read – bringing together the UK’s most borrowed library books, Desert Island Discs book choices, Pulitzer Prize winners and more.

We passed this infographic around the Northern Ballet offices and asked people to tell us which they had read and here are the results...

The most read three are

  • The Chronicles of Narnia
  • Winnie the Pooh
  • Wuthering Heights

Those who have read A Clockwork Orange have also read...

  • Catch-22
  • The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy
  • Animal Farm
  • The Picture of Dorian Gray

But none of the A Clockwork Orange readers have read (or admitted to reading) Sense and Sensibility.

The average number of books from the list people have read is 31 with one person here having read 56!

Twilight, His Dark Materials and Harry Potter made decent showings but none as many as Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland, Chronicles of Narnia or Winnie the Pooh.

Take a look at the list on The Guardian website  – how do you compare?
