Were you inspired by Strictly Wheels performance on BGT this weekend? I certainly was as I am preparing for our ‘in motion’ taster session on Sunday.

In motion is a dance course for self propelling wheelchair users aged 11 - 25 (the age restrictions have been removed), who would like to learn to dance and create new movement in a safe, friendly and supportive environment. There will be a series of 6 workshops, culminating in a performance for family and friends.

Workshops will be very creative, giving the participants the opportunity to explore movement in a brand new way, developing physical skills, fitness levels and confidence.

The free taster workshop and informal chat with soft drinks is this Sunday 22 April at 1 - 3pm. It is the ideal opportunity for anyone who would like more information about the project to come along, meet like minded people and try a creative dance workshop, free of charge.

To book a place for the taster session, please call me on 0113 220 8000 or email

The last few weeks have been busy as ever for the Learning Department. We worked with 54 young dancers over Easter in our Beauty & the Beast Easter Course which was a great success.

Rebekah Caputo delivered some brilliant shadow puppetry and physical theatre workshops alongside ballet and creative dance workshops delivered by me. The week culminated in a fantastic performance for family and friends, giving the young people an opportunity to show their parents what they had created over the week. Already the young people have started to book onto our Summer Course inspired by the joy of summer and the holidays – if you missed out on our Easter Course, be sure to book early as places sell out fast!
