Proud company - Dancer wins Canadian Indspire Award

Published on Tuesday 23 October, 2012

Last week it was announced that our very own Graham Kotowich has been awarded the Indspire Métis Youth Award for his work in dance & career achievement and as an outstanding indigenous Canadian role model.

The Indspire Awards, formerly know as the National Aboriginal Achievement Awards, are to celebrate the significant contributions of Indigenous people in Canada.

Graham, from Saskatchewan Canada, will attend Indspire Awards gala event on Friday, February 15, 2013 at the Sid Buckwold Theatre in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan to receive his award.

We caught up with Graham to ask a few questions...

All at Northern Ballet are extremely proud of Graham's achievement and congratulate him on receiving this award.

So how does it feel to have won such a prestigious award?

I feel very proud to be chosen for this award and its great to be shown such amazing support from my community in Canada.

What is the best piece of advice you can give for budding dancer?

I think its important for youth today to find what they are passion about and to think of what is unique about them. They should use this to create new skills and to always be proud of what they are doing.

The views expressed in blogs are those of the author and not necessarily of Northern Ballet.
