Nominations at the National Dance Awards

Nominations for the 2019 National Dance Awards have been released and we are delighted to have been nominated in three categories.

Organised by the Dance Section of the Critics' Circle, this is the 20th anniversary year of the National Dance Awards which celebrate the vigour and variety of Britain's thriving dance culture. This year's nominations are for performances held in the UK between 1 September 2018 and 31 August 2019.

Northern Ballet has been nominated for the Stef Stefanou Award for Outstanding Company, our sixth consecutive nomination in this category. Our fellow nominees for this award include Mark Morris Dance Group, The Royal Ballet, San Francisco Ballet and Scottish Ballet.

Cathy Marston receives a nomination for Best Classical Choreography for our production of Victoria, alongside Patricia Guerrero for Flamenco Festival's Catedral, Helen Pickett for Scottish Ballet's The Crucible and Stina Quagebeur for English National Ballet's Nora.

Finally, our former Premier Dancer Pippa Moore, has been nominated for Outstanding Female Classical Performance for her role as Beatrice in Victoria. Pippa is nominated in this category alongside Sara Baras for her performance in Sombras for Ballet Flamenco Sara Baras, The Royal Ballet's Francesca Hayward for her performance as Juliet in Romeo and Juliet, English National Ballet's Katja Khaniukova as Frida in Broken Wings and The Royal Ballet's Anna Rose O'Sullivan as Juliet in Romeo and Juliet.

The awards ceremony will be held on 19th February.
