We’re aware that the COVID-19 pandemic has been an exceptionally difficult time for all of us. We are back on tour, and we are so pleased to be able to welcome audiences back to live performance. The whole Company has missed you, and we hope you find something in our current season that you will enjoy, so that we can all begin making precious memories again.
The safety of our audiences, performers and staff is extremely important to us here at Northern Ballet, and we’re working to keep you as safe as possible. We will continually review and update our procedures in line with the latest guidance, and if the national guidance changes then we will update you on this page.
Below are some answers to some frequently asked questions about COVID safety. If you have a question that’s not asked here, or if you’d like to speak to a member of Northern Ballet staff about your visit, please contact firstname.lastname@example.org and we’d be happy to talk to you.
Will I need to wear a face covering?
For touring performances at other theatres, please refer to the individual venue’s guidance, which we have linked to below. We do encourage audiences to wear a face covering during a performance at any venue if they are able to do so.
Several venues are participating in UK Theatres’ See It Safely scheme, which you can find more detail about here. For performances in our own Stanley & Audrey Burton Theatre, we politely encourage that audiences continue to wear face coverings unless they are exempt.
For touring performances at other theatres, please refer to each venue’s own guidance policy around refunds and cancellations. We’ve linked to their websites below.
For performances in the Stanley & Audrey Burton Theatre, if a performance is unable to take place because of COVID we will refund your ticket or allow you to rebook on a different date. If you are experiencing COVID-19 symptoms, have a positive test result or are isolating, please do not attend. Instead, we will endeavour to rearrange for an alternative performance, provide alternative tickets for a similar event within the theatre or provide a full refund at the discretion of theatre staff.
Visiting Northern Ballet in Leeds
Hand sanitiser is available at Reception, and we politely request that all visitors sanitise their hands on entry. Our café-bar is now open as normal, and the previous one way system has been removed, but please do move around the building with care and maintain a safe social distance where possible, for example when queuing to take your seats. We are working to keep the spaces well-ventilated. Northern Ballet staff will continue to wear masks when moving around the building. We are carrying out enhanced cleaning before and after performances, and operate a frequent ongoing cleaning schedule.
Where possible, please bring as few belongings as possible to help maintain an open space throughout the building, allowing people to keep their distance. We are still able to accommodate prams for our children’s performances. Please be aware that our performances will be open at full capacity so you will be sitting directly next to other people.
