Dominique Larose

Apprentice

Dominique was born in San Francisco, California and trained at the Ayako School of Ballet, Tanz Akademie Zürich and the Academy of Northern Ballet’s Graduate Professional Programme. She joined Northern Ballet in 2014.

I was born and raised in San Francisco, California.

At what age did you start dancing?

I started ballet at age three.

Which Northern Ballet roles would you most like to dance?

I really loved the role of Octavia in Cleopatra and Swan Lake’s Odette/Odile would be a challenge and a dream.

Career highlights

Participating in the 2010 Prix de Lausanne, dancing in the 2013 TanzOlymp Berlin Gala and being part of the creation of Northern Ballet’s Cinderella.

What do you like most about being a dancer?

Classical ballet is a disappearing art; I’d like to preserve it.

If you could adapt one work into a ballet what would it be?

I would adapt the 2001 movie Pearl Harbour because I like ballet showing something about history.

What is your favourite book?

Tintin and the Secret of the Unicorn.

If you weren’t a dancer what would you be?

I would like to be a publicist (like my Mother).
