Luke Francis

Dancer

Luke is from Birmingham and trained on Birmingham Royal Ballet’s Dance Track Programme, as a Royal Ballet Associate and at Elmhurst School for Dance and English National Ballet School. He joined Northern Ballet in 2014.

Where were you born and raised?

I was born and raised in Birmingham.

At what age did you start dancing?

7 years old.

Where did you train?

Birmingham Royal Ballet’s Dance Track Programme, Royal Ballet Junior Associates, Elmhurst School for Dance and English National Ballet School.

What role would you most like to dance?

I would most like to dance in Hans van Manen’s Concertante.

Career highlights

Working with choreographer Kerry Nichols on my graduate show for English National Ballet School in 2014 and getting a Corps de Ballet contract with Northern Ballet.

What do you like most about being a dancer?

The rewarding career you get from doing something you love and the amazing people you meet along the way.

If you could adapt one work into a ballet what would it be?

Elizabeth Gilbert’s Eat, Pray, Love.

What is your favourite book?

Lauren Weisberger’s The Devil Wears Prada.

What is your favourite post-show meal?

Anything Italian!

How do you like to relax?

With good food, friends and a nice glass of wine!

Something in the fashion industry, maybe the next Anna Wintour...!
