Our new full-length ballet, and second of 2013, Cinderella opens tonight at Leeds Grand Theatre! A few lucky people have attended dress rehearsals and preview perfrmances, here's what they had to say about it...
Northern Ballet have teamed up with Filmore & Union in Leeds to offer one lucky winner a New Year treat. You'll win a pre-theatre dinner for two at Filmore & Union's brand new restaurant and healthy express bar, which recently opened in Victoria Quarter and the winner will also receive two tickets for Northern Ballet's Cinderella at Leeds Grand Theatre on Friday 3 January 2014.
Dominic Grier
Born in the UK, Dominic is rapidly becoming acknowledged as a young conductor of distinction, whose career already embraces opera, ballet and symphonic work as well as contemporary music and orchestral training. He was a permanent staff conductor for the Royal Ballet from 2008-10, and is now a regular guest conductor for the company. He has also conducted frequently for Northern Ballet, Scottish Ballet and Birmingham Royal Ballet. He was Music Director of the King’s College London Symphony Orchestra from 2009-12 and is Principal Conductor of the London Academy Premiere Sinfonia.
We are so excited for the World Première of Cinderella next week, we have decided to give you an exclusive glimpse of a couple of the costumes designed by our Artistic Director, David Nixon OBE. Here are the Cinderella and Stepsisters picnic costumes and a male and female Winter ball costume.

Act I The Countryside outside Moscow It is an idyllic summer afternoon and a picnic is in progress to celebrate Cinderella’s birthday. Her Father, Count Serbrenska, gives her a present and they are joined by Cinderella’s Stepmother and her Stepsisters, Natasha and Sophia. Prince and Princess Mulakov, who are good friends of the Count, arrive with their son, Prince Mikhail. As the afternoon continues, the young people play and the adults stroll or join a shooting party on the other side of the river.
The principal characters you'll encounter while watching Cinderella. Cinderella A lonely young woman who is forced to become a servant for her Stepmother after her Father’s untimely death. She longs to be accepted for who she really is.
Northern Ballet has announced plans for its 2014 UK tour that will see the Company visiting 35 venues with a range of productions including the return of Northern Ballet’s most powerful heroine Cleopatra and the first UK tour of David Nixon’s new Cinderella.
