Elves & the Shoemaker

A poor and hard-working shoemaker called Bertie lives with his wife, Bettina. Winter is approaching and times are very hard for them. Bertie decides to give his final pair of shoes and his last slice of bread to a poor lady in need of help.

Following the announcement that Northern Ballet is to première an adaptation of George Orwell’s 1984 by Jonathan Watkins in September 2015, the Leeds-based Company, which is celebrating its 45th anniversary year, has released details of its plans for spring 2015 with a season of iconic love stories giving 134 performances across 28 venues in the UK.

We are almost at the première of our new children’s ballet Elves & the Shoemaker. On Saturday 13 September the Company will be heading over to The Riley Theatre at Northern School of Contemporary Theatre to perform Elves & the Shoemaker to lots of excited children – and we can’t wait!

The dancers have been back since the end of July, but today there is something of the first day of term in the air. Dracula opens at West Yorkshire Playhouse on Friday, running till Saturday 13 September. The Technical Team are there already laying the floor, installing the sets and lighting. The dancers will be there on Thursday for technical and dress rehearsals before the curtain goes up on Friday night.
