Stanley is back!
Hello everybody, long time no see! I’ve been having a good rest over Christmas and the New Year, keeping warm and dry and trying not to slip about too much on all the ice we've had.
But now it’s time to fluff up my feathers, ready for a very busy spring. Northern Ballet are taking their wonderful production Ugly Duckling out on tour to theatres in the North of England, so I’ll be travelling far and wide to meet lots of children and tell them all about the show.
The children that I meet will be lucky enough to have a dance workshop with my good friend Leanne who is a dance education officer with Northern Ballet. She will be teaching them some ballet steps and then showing them some of the moves from the production so that they can have a go at some of them themselves.
I began clocking up my air miles last weekend by flying over to the North West to join Leanne who was delivering workshops with The Lancaster Ballet and Theatre School, Turning Point Theatre Arts, Ludus Dance, LAMATA and NRG in Morecambe. I also met children from the JB School of Dance at The Dukes Theatre where my best friend Ugly will be performing in Ugly Duckling on 5th April. I really enjoyed watching the children performing dance steps from the ballet, especially when they were hopping around like the frogs and dancing very gracefully like the swan.
This week I have been to lots of schools in Berwick-upon-Tweed in the boarders where it’s very cold - I’ve had to pack my thermals because even my feathers aren’t fluffy enough to keep me warm up there! I’ll also be visiting Barrow-in-Furness in the beautiful Lake District where I’m hoping to have a swim in one of the many lakes and hopefully get a few crumbs from a friendly tourist’s afternoon tea!
I’ll be back soon with more tales from my travels, bye for now,
