The National Ballet School of Canada in Toronto. Koninklijk Conservatorium in The Hague, Netherlands.

When did you join Northern Ballet?

2007

What made you want to be a dancer?

As a child I was completely obsessed with Hollywood musicals. I would watch the dance sequences over and over again and had posters of Gene Kelly all over my bedroom! It was the charm, the romance and the magic of those old films that inspired me to dance.

What would be your dream role to dance be and why?

My dream role would have to be Juliet. It’s so wonderfully dramatic and emotional and Prokofiev’s score is just incredible.

Who are your artistic influences or heroes?

Cyd Charisse. She was such a graceful, sexy and confident dancer. I love her in Singing in the Rain.

If you could adapt one work into a ballet what would it be?

Far from the Madding Crowd or the Umbrellas of Cherbourg.

Describe your perfect Sunday morning...

Hanging out with my boyfriend Bruno on our sunny balcony overlooking the river, sipping tea and listening to jazz.

What was the first album you bought and what was the last album you bought?

First would be The Spice Girls. Last my Dad actually bought for me it was 'Saturday Night Fish Fry' a brilliant compilation of funk and soul music.

What would be your luxury item on a desert island?

A telephone.

What are your favourite places in Yorkshire?

My favourite town is Knaresborough, it’s so historic and beautiful. I love exploring the Yorkshire Dales too. So many beautiful villages and traditional pubs.
