This week we welcome our dancers back to Leeds after being out on tour for for almost a month. It's nice to have them back in the building where rehearsals and creativity are top of the agenda as everyone prepares for the final performances of the season with the Mixed Programmeat the Stanley & Audrey Burton Theatre.
It's another one for the history books this week as we travel to Southampton for our very first performances at the Mayflower Theatre from 28 - 31 May. It's also the last time we'll be performing A Midsummer Night's Dream for a while following a tour that has seen us perform this hilarious and magical production at eight theatres in the UK and three theatres in China over the last nine months. So don't miss out, join us at the Mayflower Theatre this week.
Take a closer look at Google and you will discover a perhaps little known functionality that allows you to look at patents for inventions that have been filed and published, although not necessarily granted. A quick search for ballet unveils the weird and wonderful contraptions inventors have designed to make the life of the ballet dancer easier. Here are a few of my favourites:
This week the magic continues as Puck packs up his mischievous love juice and heads down to Milton Keynes for performances of A Midsummer Night's Dream. Running from 20 - 24 May at Milton Keynes Theatre, tickets are still available so book now and enjoy this colourful and hilarious production.
Last week the Company was in London, and what a week it was! Our first ever performances in Covent Garden and our first triple bill outside of Leeds in recent years!
After being invited to watch the Mixed Programme rehearsals during the previous week I was already highly anticipating our arrival at the Royal Opera House (ROH) and by the time my delightful Cockney cabbie pulled up outside on of London's most famous buildings I was absolutely jittering with excitement.
This week is a quiet one in the studios as the Company are casting off their form-fitting lycras in favour of fairy wings and travelling out to Norwich with A Midsummer Night's Dream. This is the home stretch of our spring tour and will see Titania and co also perform in Milton Keynes and Southampton before returning to Leeds for our final performances of the season.
This time next week the Company will be in residence at the Royal Opera House's Linbury Studio Theatre with a Mixed Programme. It's an important occasion for two reasons as it's our first ever performance at the famous Covent Garden venue and this is also the first time we've performed a triple bill outside of Leeds in recent years.
If you haven't seen Northern Ballet in a Mixed Programme before then you've never seen Northern Ballet quite like this!
This week is our final full week in the studios before the Company heads to London to perform the Mixed Programme at the Linbury Studio Theatre. The first two performances are virtually sold out but there's still tickets available for the matinee and evening performances on Saturday 10 May so book now to avoid disappointment.
