Cinderella

Northern Ballet is excited to announce plans for Christmas yet to come.

The Company will bring the ultimate rags to riches fairytale to the stage in December 2013 with a magical new production of Cinderella by David Nixon OBE. It will have its World Première at Leeds Grand Theatre on Tuesday 17 December and will tour nationally in 2014.

Cinderella will be David Nixon’s fifteenth new full-length production for Northern Ballet where he has been Artistic Director since 2001. It is his second new ballet for 2013 which also sees the World Première and national tour of The Great Gatsby from 2 March.

One of the most beloved fairytales of all time, Cinderella tells the story of a young woman whose life is made miserable by her nasty stepmother and her two bullying stepsisters. Granted a wish by her Fairy Godmother, Cinderella’s world of drudgery is left behind on one memorable night when she is swept off her feet, and out of her glass slippers, by a handsome prince.

Cinderella is the fifth addition to Northern Ballet’s repertoire of highly successful family ballets which already includes The Nutcracker, Peter Pan, A Christmas Carol and Beauty & the Beast.
