Alastair West

Lighting Design

Alastair graduated from Bretton Hall in 2004 with a degree in Performance Design and Production, having specialised in lighting design.

He is currently Head of Lighting for Northern Ballet where he has designed multiple shows for the main company including: Giselle, I Got Rhythm and tour lighting for A Christmas Carol. He has also designed several productions for the company’s small scale children’s ballets including: Ugly Duckling, Three Little Pigs and Elves and the Shoemaker.

Alastair has worked alongside the young choreographer Kenneth Tindall over the last three years on his three main pieces: Project #1, Luminous Junc•ture and The Architect. He has also re-lit, re-designed and re-created various productions throughout his career, whilst working for Sheffield Theatres, RSC and multiple commercial tours.

Play design credits include: Cinderella and Aladdin for Cast in Doncaster, Puzzle Women for Dead Ernest, The Indian Boy for RSC Cube Season and La Ronde for Bolt Productions.
