Alastair West

Alastair graduated from Bretton Hall in 2004 with a degree in Performance Design and Production, having specialised in lighting design.

He is currently Head of Lighting for Northern Ballet where he has designed multiple shows for the Company including: Kenneth Tindall's Casanova (for which he was nominated for a Knight of Illumination Award); Cathy Marston's Jane EyreGiselleI Got RhythmMadame Butterfly (Mid Scale 2015); and A Christmas Carol (tour lighting). He has also designed for the Company’s small scale children’s ballets: Ugly DucklingThree Little PigsElves & the Shoemaker; Tortoise & the Hareand Goldilocks & the Three Bears

Alastair has also designed lighting for Kenneth's Tindall's Project #1Luminous Junc•ture and The Architect for Northern Ballet’s mixed programmes. He has also re-lit, re-designed and re-created various productions throughout his career whilst working for Sheffield Theatres, RSC and multiple commercial tours.

Lighting design credits include: Cinderella, Aladdin, Sleeping Beauty (Cast, Doncaster); Puzzle Women (Dead Ernest); The Indian Boy (RSC, Cube Season); and La Ronde (Bolt Productions).
