Dance For Parkinson's
Join Northern Ballet at Home
Get creative, feel energised, meet new people — all whilst having fun!
Living with Parkinson’s and want to improve your balance, flexibility, and strength? Northern Ballet’s Dance for Parkinson's classes provide an exciting opportunity to work with our expert teachers, accompanied by a live pianist.
Due to Coronavirus we have moved our weekly classes online ensuring we can safely dance together from the comfort of our homes.
Each week we’ll cover basic technique to improve your posture, core strength, coordination, creativity and self-expression. There will also be an opportunity to learn some of the movements from our well-known ballets and our current productions.
The live, online sessions include a variety of both seated and standing exercises led and demonstrated by two Northern Ballet dance artists: Philippa Ranger and Annemarie Donoghue. You will be able to follow the option that you feel most comfortable and confident to do within your own home.
No previous dance experience is required, and the ability level is open. You may want to ask a companion or family member to join in with you for support or to enjoy the sessions together.
‘Dance for Parkinson’s has been a great initiative; attending each week has given me a new appreciation of ballet and perhaps more importantly helped in the management of my condition. Unanticipated benefits include the new friends we have made and the smile which it never fails to put on my face!’
