Giuliano Contadini

Giuliano is from Rimini in Italy. He previously danced for Ballet Ireland and English National Ballet before joining Northern Ballet in 2007 where he progressed to become a Leading Soloist.

Giuliano left Northern Ballet in June 2018 but returned as a Guest Artist for a short tour of The Great Gatsby in May 2019.

Where were you born and raised?

Rimini, Italy

Where did you do your dance training?

Rimini, Rome and English National Ballet School.

What made you want to be a dancer?

I used to look at my sister when she was doing it and I thought, I can do that! Tried it, liked it and the rest is history.

What would be your dream role to dance be and why?

Romeo in Romeo & Juliet. It’s the Italian role for excellence. I just feel a connection to it.

Who are your artistic influences or heroes?

Lady Gaga. My family.

If you could adapt one work into a ballet what would it be?

The Sword in the Stone

Describe your perfect Sunday morning

Waking up to a not so rainy day, stay in bed some more. Do things we don’t get time to during the week like shopping, cinema, spa and catching up with friends

What would be your luxury item on a desert island?

A yacht with a full crew... With Tom Daley on it too!

Harvey Nichols, Las Iguanas & Salvos
