Join us for a special pop up class featuring iconic repertoire from Christopher Gable CBE's A Christmas Carol. With different classes for children and adults, everyone can get involved in the merriment.

Whether you're an aspiring ballet dancer or you're only familiar with the basics. As long as you have a confident understanding of the fundamentals of ballet, our adult pop up class will accommodate all skill levels, with seasoned ballet teacher Jane Tucker guiding you every step of the way.
The day will include a teacher-led warm-up, a classical ballet class, a repertoire class inspired by A Christmas Carol and a cool down.
After booking, you'll be emailed a form to fill in with required information.

Pop ups for Children
We have two different classes available for children depending on their age. Children will take part in a classical ballet class, repertoire class, guest Q&A and photo opportunity as well as a demonstration at the end of the day.

We are pleased to announce that Northern Ballet Leading Soloist Dominique Larose will be guest teaching our children's pop up classes and leading a Q&A for participating children.
Guest teacher: Cara O'Shea
Former Academy of Northern Ballet Associate Artistic Director Cara O'Shea is returning to guest teach our 9-11 pop up class, sharing her expertise from her many years teaching classical ballet.

Guest Teacher
Dominique Larose
Dominique is a Leading Soloist for Northern Ballet and joined the Company in 2014. She was born in San Francisco, California and trained at the Ayako School of Ballet, Tanz Akademie Zürich and the Academy of Northern Ballet's Professional Graduate Programme.
During her time at Northern Ballet, Dominique has danced many principle roles including Daisy in The Great Gatsby, Juliet in Romeo & Juliet and the Sugarplum Fairy in The Nutcracker. In A Christmas Carol she'll be dancing Belle and The Ghost of Christmas Past.
She has been a Guest Performer for both Cape Town City Ballet and Southern California Ballet. She's also taught on Northern Ballet's Centre for Advanced Training (CAT) programme and Northern Ballet's Professional Graduate Programme, as well as at the Ayako School of Ballet.

Cara O'Shea
Cara trained with London Junior Ballet where she won a competitive scholarship in her graduation year, and was a Cecchetti Scholar for four years, winning the senior division at the Cecchetti Mabel Ryan competition in 1999. At age 16 she joined Northern Ballet School in Manchester on the Classical Ballet focus where, in her final year, she decided to concentrate on teaching as a career and so stayed for an additional year to obtain teaching experience at the school.
Cara joined the Academy of Northern Ballet as a trainee classical ballet teacher in 2007 and had the unique opportunity of training intensively as a teacher under the personal supervision of Yoko Ichino. She received her teaching certificate from Northern Ballet in 2009 and went on to become Head of the Lower Levels of the CAT programme. Cara has taught at several different training establishments including Northern Ballet School, Chelmsford Ballet Company as well as summer schools in Ireland.

Cara has performed with Chelmsford Ballet Company, dancing the role of Aurora in Sleeping Beauty aged 15, created several roles with National Youth Ballet of Great Britain, danced principal roles with Manchester City Ballet and has appeared with Northern Ballet.

Viki Westall
Viki began ballet lessons at 5 years old, progressing to The Royal Ballet School at 11 and then continuing her training at the Hammond School, Chester. At the age of 17 she joined London Festival Ballet and spent 7 years there, dancing in all the major classics both in England and abroad - working with many inspirational people especially during the annual Nureyev seasons at the London Coliseum.
In 1986, Viki joined Northern Ballet Theatre, becoming a principal the following year under the artistic directorship of Christopher Gable. She created many roles including the Stepmother in Cinderella, the Nurse in Romeo and Juliet , Mrs Fezziwig in A Christmas Carol and the Dancing Girl in Swan Lake as well as dancing the principal roles of Giselle, Juliet, Swanhilda (Coppelia), Odile (Swan Lake), Kitri (Don Quixote), Berthe Morisot (Memoire Imaginaire), Alice (Alice in Wonderland) and The Woman in Red (Lialsons Amoreuses). She was also noted for her performances of Queen of the Wilis in Giselle, Stepsister in Cinderella and Lady Capulet in Romeo and Juliet. Viki guested abroad dancing in New York and Florida and performing Odette/Odile throughout Germany.
In 1996 Viki retired from the stage and began her teaching career at Northern Ballet when Chrisopher Gable asked her to take over the Associate class program. She became Head of Classical Dance at the Northern Ballet School in Manchester for 3 years and has also taught at London Studio Centre, Central School of Ballet and for the Scottish Ballet Associates, as well as guest teaching for the RAD regions, BBO and ISTD Northern Scholars.
In 2003, David Nixon and Yoko Ichino invited Viki to the BalletMet summer school in Ohio, America where she began her training in the Ichino technique. Since that time, she has been an integral part of the Academy of Northern Ballet, and now has the pleasure of seeing many of her students dancing in professional companies - Northern Ballet, Scottish Ballet, Hamburg Ballet, Ballet Black, English National Ballet, and the Royal Ballet. She has taught for the Academy in many centres in Italy as part of the Formazione Tersichore programme.
Viki writes and reviews for Dance Europe magazine and is a qualified Body Control Pilates reformer and mat work teacher.
