Join us this January for a special wellness pop up and start your 2025 feeling enriched and replenished.
This new pop up will feature a mix of classical ballet and enhancement classes alongside some physical and mental wellbeing exercises led by expert guest practitioners.

The day will include:
- A Pilates class
- A full ballet class with former Northern Ballet dancer Fiona Beale
- Lunch for all participating dancers
- A sound bath
As long as you have a confident understanding of the fundamentals of ballet and are open to trying our varied timetable of sessions for the day, this wellness pop up will accommodate all skill levels.
Please note that if you have any of the following medical conditions it is strongly advised that you do not participate in the sound bath:
- First trimester of pregnancy
- Severe epilepsy
- A pacemaker
- Recent bone breakage
- Metal implants
- Sound sensitive conditions
- Recent joint or heart operations
- Unmanaged mental health problems
- Anyone under the influence of alcohol or drugs
Classical Ballet Teacher
Fiona Beale
Fiona was born in Solihull where she started dancing. She later moved to Southampton and attended the Parkewood School of Dance. She then spent a year at the West Street Studios before completing her training at Central School of Ballet. She graduated and joined Northern Ballet in 1996.
She danced many roles with the Company including Mrs Fezziwig, Nephew's Wife, Belle and Mrs Cratchitt in A Christmas Carol, Bathilde in Giselle, Maud in A Simple Man and Red Couple in Jardi Tancat. In 1998 she created the role of Michaela in Carmen and danced the title role of Carmen. She has performed the roles of Miss Haversham in Great Expectations, Mina and Lucy in Dracula and Lucille in Jekyll & Hyde. She created the role of Stella in A Streetcar Named Desire and danced the role of Blanche, before creating the role of Kate in Madame Butterfly.
Fiona retired from performing in 2002 having had a daughter, and now lives in Halifax with her husband, ex-Northern Ballet dancer Jonathan Beale, and her 3 children. She has taught for Northern Ballet's education programme and started teaching at the Academy in 2013.
Sound Bath Practitioner
Amy Wadsworth
Amy is a sound healer offering sound baths in sacred spaces around Yorkshire, helping to facilitate wellbeing for the collective.
She runs women’s drum circles, and is trained in Reiki and shamanic healing. As a wild woman and medicine woman, her focus is on weaving ancient rituals and traditions into sound healing experiences, fostering community, connection, and wellbeing.
Pilates Instructor
Aimee Johnson
Aimee is a qualified Pilates, Reformer and Barre instructor, with over 4 years of experience teaching across Leeds, Manchester, London and Europe.
Aimee grew up dancing in Leeds and competing across the country before moving to Australia with her family at 18 years old. Here she discovered Pilates and Barre, inspiring her to qualify as an instructor. Since qualifying, Aimee has gained numerous further qualifications in Reformer Pilates, Pre & Post Natal, Nutrition for Exercise and Pilates for Endometriosis.
Aimee is currently teaching part-time around university, studying to become a Physiotherapist. She has a keen interest in MSK and believes Pilates is beneficial to everyone.
Aimee’s classes are of the contemporary style, incorporating the principles of exercise into her classes to ensure effective, educational and fun classes for all. Teaching in a way which offers layers to each exercise, allows participants to experience a personalised class, listening to their body and taking challenges when desired.
