Phoenix Dance Theatre
Phoenix Dance Theatre is proud to deliver youth dance platforms at the Stanley & Audrey Burton Theatre, providing performance opportunities and raising aspirations of young people.
Founded in Leeds in 2009, the Phoenix Youth Academy provision offers high-quality pre-vocational training and performance opportunities for aspiring dancers aged 13-18 who are interested in pursuing dance as a career. Throughout the year students work with current and former Phoenix Dance Theatre dancers and internationally acclaimed choreographers to produce pieces to perform at events throughout the academic year.
The Phoenix Youth Academy Showcase is an exhibition of the passion and talent of the aspiring young people enrolled on the pre-vocational programme at Phoenix Dance Theatre.
An immersive day, bringing together all Phoenix Youth Academy cohorts, from across 6 cities: Leeds Juniors and Seniors, Doncaster, North East, Sheffield and York. The full day event will include workshops and technical rehearsals for the young people led by Phoenix Dance Theatre’s Company Dancers and members of the company Learning & Development department, concluding the day with a live performance in the Stanley & Audrey Burton Theatre.
Running time: 1 hour (approximately)
Latecomers: In unique circumstances, latecomers will only be allowed in between performances
