Daniel Parkinson

Assistant Music Director

Daniel was appointed Assistant Music Director of Northern Ballet in April 2017, having previously worked with the Company as a Guest Conductor. In 2016, he conducted performances of David Nixon and Claude-Michel Schönberg's Wuthering Heights in Leeds as well as embarking on national tours of Jean-Christophe Maillot’s Les Ballet de Monte Carlo's Romeo and Juliet and David Nixon's Beauty & the Beast. Highlights for 2017 include national tours of Casanova and The Little Mermaid, as well as conducting performances of The Boy in the Striped Pyjamas.

Daniel studied Orchestral Conducting at the Royal Northern College of Music with Clark Rundell and Mark Heron. He has taken part in masterclasses with Sir Mark Elder, Juanjo Mena, Mark Stringer, Nicolás Pasquet and Johannes Schlaefi. He made his debut with Manchester Camerata in 2015 as part of the MBNA Chester Music Festival and has been an Assistant Conductor to the BBC Philharmonic Orchestra, Royal Liverpool Philharmonic Orchestra and Rambert.

Daniel is the Cover & Off-Stage Conductor for The Royal Ballet’s critically acclaimed production of The Winter’s Tale.
