Hironao Takahashi

Hironao is from Hokkaido, Japan. He trained at the Hisatomi Ballet Studio, the Royal Ballet Upper School and Central School of Ballet. He was the winner of a professional prize at the Prix de Lausanne in 1992.

He started dancing with Northern Ballet in 1992 and became a Premier Dancer. He formally retired from dancing in 2017 after a Northern Ballet career spanning almost 25 years. His favourite roles to have performed include: Dracula in Dracula; the Beast in Beauty & the Beast; Oberon in A Midsummer Night's Dream; and Romeo and Mercutio in Romeo & Juliet.

He has performed as a guest with: Hisatomi Ballet Studio, dancing a Tchaikovsky pas de deux and PaquitaCape Town City Ballet 70th Anniversary Gala where he performed pas de deux from A Midsummer Night's Dream and Romeo & Juliet; and at the Lausanne Gala in Tokyo and Osaka, Japan in 2004.

Hironao has been part of Northern Ballet's Ballet Staff since 2015 and Assistant Artistic Director of Children's Ballets since 2016.

He has since retired from Northern Ballet and returned to Japan with his wife and children.
