Kaho is from Tokyo, Japan and trained at Kishibe Ballet Studio in Japan and English National Ballet School. She was a semi-finalist in the 2022 Prix de Lausanne. She joined Northern Ballet in 2022.

Where were you born and raised?

I was born and raised in Tokyo, Japan.

At what age did you start dancing?

I started dancing when I was two 2 and a half years old.

Where did you train?

I trained at Kishibe Ballet Studio in Japan and English National Ballet School.

Top 12 in the Youth America Grand Prix 2019 Japan Semi-final. Semi-finalist in the Prix de Lausanne 2022.

Which Northern Ballet role would you most like to dance?

I would like to dance Clara (The Nutcracker), Giselle, and Juliet (Romeo & Juliet).

Career/training highlights

I danced Stars in Cinderella with Birmingham Royal Ballet and I performed Grand Pas de Deux from The Sleeping Beauty Act 3 in Unite for Unite for Ukraine Gala during my training at English National Ballet School.

What do you like most about being a dancer?

Performing on stage is definitely what I like most about being a dancer. And it’s such a special feeling when you bow after a performance.

If you could adapt one work into a ballet what would it be?

It would be very exciting if I could adapt Frozen into a ballet.

What is your favourite post-show meal?

Any Japanese Food!

How do you like to relax?

I like to relax by having a nice bath or hanging out with my friends.

If you weren’t a dancer what would you be?

I think I would be involved in art in some form.
