CAT October Intensive Guests Have Been Announced

The 2024 academic year is now well and truly underway, which means it must be time again for our October Intensive!

Our intensives give students on our CAT programme a chance to feel the full vocational experience. Alongside specialist training from our collection of guest teachers, helping students to improve their skills and learn new ones, students will also get the chance to experiment with new dance styles and get deeper insight into unique industry experiences.

Our next intensive is coming up this October half-term and our exciting line-up of guests has just been announced.

Guest Dance Teachers

Aimee Good

Aimee trained at Urdang Academy in London from 2016-2019 and in that time featured in the original cast recording of Zombies The Musical, a Westend workshop of the production Chaplin as ensemble, Oona, a workshop of the musical Nursery Crymes and performed at the London Palladium. Shortly after graduating, Aimee embarked on the UK and International tour of Les Miserablés covering the role of Eponine from 2019-2023.

Jonathan Gordon Milton

Jonathan trained at The Dance School of Scotland, Glasgow and English National Ballet School, London. He most recently appeared in the ensemble of Frozen the Musical at Theatre Royal Drury Lane in London's West End, which was filmed for Disney+ and will be premiering in 2025. Previously, he played the Slavemaster and Il Muto in the London West End production of Phantom of the Opera. Jonathan has performed with various ballet companies across the UK and Europe including Theater Magdeburg, Germany, Teatrul de Balet Sibiu, Romania and English National Ballet, London at both soloist and corps de ballet level. Other roles Jonathan has performed include Jean de Brienne in Raymonda, The Wizard in Petrushka, Alexi Karenin in Anna Karenina, and The Mouse King in The Nutcracker to name a few.

Rowena English

Alongside chaperoning dancers at the Academy of Northern Ballet, Rowena delivers bespoke drama workshops and leads confidence and communication skills workshops for Talk the Talk. Rowena also enjoys sharing her love of Shakespeare with primary, secondary and SEND students through the Coram Shakespeare Schools Festival, and has recently collaborated with the British Library, Leeds Playhouse and Temple Newsam House to create interactive workshops for GCSE History and English students.

Dr Lucie Clements - Dance Psychologist

Lucie’s story begins like many who dance; from a young child falling in love with movement to a life dedicated to dance. When she sustained a serious injury and faced challenges with her mental wellbeing, she developed a new goal: “To use my understanding of the science of the mind and behaviour to help dancers to navigate the challenges I had experienced.” She studied Psychology, Dance Science and Psychological Coaching and lectured in dance and psychology in several Higher Education institutions. In 2018 Lucie began working as “the dance psychologist”, using her expertise gained as a psychologist, educator and researcher to develop evidence-based coaching, workshops and consultancy for performing artists. The 2020 Coronavirus Pandemic encouraged her to leave her full-time role in academia to focus on her work with dancers. You can read more about Lucie’s work on her social media and website.

Dillan Potts - Sports and Exercise Nutrition Registrant

Dillan has previously worked with Northern Ballet Company Dancers and is currently working with our Professional Graduate Programme students to help them understand the impact of nutrition on their performance and how they can fuel themselves in order to be at their best. Of his work he says: “As a sports and exercise nutrition registrant, who has just finished a masters in research, I am motivated to develop my knowledge and experiences within the field of sports nutrition. I am a driven and hard-working person who has always aimed to provide work at the highest possible standard. My hard work and determination have enabled me to achieve the best grades and esteemed recommendations from university lecturers. My eagerness to learn and stepping outside of my comfort zone has propelled my knowledge in these fields of work. Through my own research and applied work, I have developed effective sport nutrition strategies which have enabled me to work with some of the best ballet dancers in the country and help England women’s rugby league.”
