We are looking for team members to join our friendly Reception team on a casual basis. This will include covering evening and weekend shifts.

You will act as the first point of contact for Northern Ballet, providing a first-class service. You will work as part of the Reception team to provide the highest level of customer care to all callers and visitors to Northern Ballet and Phoenix Dance Theatre. 

Job Description

Key Duties

  • Meet and greet all visitors in a professional, warm and courteous manner as first point of contact, and deal with queries efficiently.
  • Answer the telephone, screen and direct calls for Northern Ballet and Phoenix Dance Theatre. Take and relay messages and provide information to callers.
  • General administrative support including: looking after the visitor’s book and issuing security fobs/passes, tidy and maintain the reception area, ensure knowledge of staff movements in and out of each organisation and receive mail and deliveries.
  • Sell tickets for events in the Stanley & Audrey Burton Theatre on the computerised box office system, and provide information to patrons by telephone and in person.
  • Give basic information and direct enquiries about external room hires to the Events team and provide appropriate support to room hires and events.
  • Capture the data required to sustain, develop and increase audiences for the Stanley & Audrey Burton Theatre programme of events, conferences and studio hires.
  • Process payments for Academy of Northern Ballet classes and ticket sales and merchandise.
  • Adhere to all financial procedures.
  • Generate sales for Northern Ballet by promoting forthcoming activities and initiatives as opportunities arise.
  • Undertake any duties reasonable required of the Reception team as well as other relevant admin tasks.

Essential Skills/Experience

  • Experience in reception/administration
  • Good communication skills
  • Friendly and approachable
  • Confident IT user, especially Outlook, Excel and Word
  • Able to follow systems and procedures

Desirable Skills/Experience

  • Experience operating box office systems and making sales
  • Handling financial transactions
  • An interest in ballet or other theatre/culture

Details

  • Hours:
    Providing cover for shifts vacant due to holidays or illness as and when required. Mainly Sunday shifts (approximately 09:00-17:30) and evening shifts (17:00-20:30), but also potentially weekday shifts (approximately 08:30-17:00).
  • Pay: £12.21 per hour
  • Job type: Contract
