Trying to Get My Heart Back

Northern Ballet dancers have collaborated with musical artists Govardo to create a digital work featuring the band’s most recent single, Trying to Get My Heart Back

Sean Bates and Mlindi Kulashe portray the emotion and narrative of the lyrics with their expressive interpretation filmed amongst the ruins of St. Mary’s Abbey at the York Museum Gardens. The concept was created during lockdown by dancer Antoinette Brooks-Daw, who’s vision for filming in this dramatic location was brought to life by the wonderful talents of Emily Nuttall.

Special thanks to the York Museums Trust for making the grounds available to us on a couple of early mornings!

*Fun fact: The track was featured in a film called My Dad's Christmas Date released on Amazon Prime, and the song comes on during an emotional scene, which was coincidentally filmed in the very same York Museum Gardens.
