We are looking for a talented pianist to play the piano for Academy classes on Sundays during term time.

Education

A stage management or arts qualification is desirable or relevant professional experience will be considered.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Music degree or equivalent training
  • Previous professional experience playing music for ballet classes is preferable but not essential, training and guidance can be provided.
  • Piano playing should be of a professional level and a high standard of general musicianship.
  • Site reading is not an essential part of this role.
  • Able to respond to the ballet teachers requests in terms of time signature, tempo, and dynamic.

Key Responsibilities

  • To play for Academy classes on Sunday mornings – music to be suitable for ballet class and to include improvisation and classical ballet music.
  • To work with the class teacher to reflect their musical aims for each exercise.
  • To maintain appropriate staff/student relationships.

Details

  • Hours
    • Part-time hours on Sundays during term time (9:45-11:15 – pianist will be able to claim 2hrs at their hourly rate)
    • Additional hours may be available regularly on Saturdays 13:15-15:00
    • Additional hours may be available for Intensives, and one-off events, including auditions, masterclasses etc.
  • Rate of pay: In the region of £23 per hour, depending on experience.
