Keisha Hamilton

Dance Education Officer

I gained a First Class BA (Hons) Television and Video Production degree at university and the experience coaching the Hip Hop team in my 3rd year fuelled my desire to further my dance training. I had attended gymnastics and karate as a child and attended dance school where I participated in several dance styles, gaining qualifications in Freestyle and Modern Jazz.

In 2014 I joined the Learning Department as the first Dance Education Apprentice. I developed skills to introduce new audiences to ballet and deliver inclusive movement sessions. Upon completion of the apprenticeship, I worked on a freelance basis for organisations including Northern School of Contemporary Dance and RJC. I then went travelling before returning to the team as a Dance Education Officer in September 2016.

In addition to teaching, I have enjoyed successes such as being chosen to dance alongside RJC and Phoenix Youth Dance companies at 1Xtra Live 2015 and I have been able to meet other dance artists through Sir Matthew Bourne’s Re:Bourne Overture cohort 2016/2017.
