I initially trained at Performers College and after graduating I worked as a professional commercial dancer and in musical theatre. In 2001 I began working as a freelance dance artist in various schools and community settings in the north of England, including Tramshed, where I gained invaluable experience in inclusive dance practice. In 2007 I moved into dance in education and became joint Head of Dance at a specialist performing arts high school where I worked closely with the Royal Ballet School on their dance partnership and access programme. In 2010 undertook my BA (Hons) Dance degree and became Dance Education Officer at Northern Ballet in January 2012.
In July 2016 I became Director of Learning. My responsibility is to ensure that the work of Northern Ballet reaches larger and more diverse audiences and to promote the ethos that dance is for all. I love introducing people of all ages to visiting the theatre and seeing how much they enjoy the experience of live performance.
