EGO: The Making Of
EGO - a Northern Ballet original dance film - has won two awards at the prestigious Accolade Global Film Competition in California, USA.
A collaboration between filmmaker Dan Lowenstein and choreographer Kenneth Tindall; EGO was given the Award of Excellence in two categories - 'Experimental' and 'Creativity / Originality'.
Now you can find out how we created this five-star dance film in our new behind-the-scenes documentary, EGO: The Making Of.
Director Dan Lowenstein comes from a professional dance background enabling him to capture dance storytelling in innovative ways using powerful cinematic tools. On winning the awards he said:
‘EGO really captured my imagination and it was huge investment of energy, passion and creativity. I am so proud of the results and to receive recognition from a prestigious global film competition is a brilliant achievement’.
Tindall, who also created our latest ballet Geisha for the stage, is Northern Ballet's Artistic Director of Digital and Choreographer in Residence. He added:
'We are thrilled that we are receiving international recognition for our film EGO and the digital work we are producing at Northern Ballet. We opened our search wide for this project and welcomed many new voices to the Northern Ballet family. It was an honour and a privilege to see our different styles, training and artistry be woven together for the screen.
A huge thank you to the cast and crew for the beautiful journey.'
