Northern Ballet's very own First Soloist Mlindi Kulashe makes his choreographic debut with his enthralling new work Mamela...
Meaning 'listen' in his native language Xhosa, Mamela... explores themes of frustration, escapism and imprisonment as Kulashe pushes the boundaries of abstract ballet. Performed to entrancing music by Jack Edmonds, Mamela... has a haunting and oppressive, yet hopeful feeling, symbolising the way society affects each person.
